AM 1100 The Flag: The Lights Groundbreaking

September 25, 2019

Entertainment, ice skating, dining, shopping, outdoor patios, and a new lifestyle area is soon coming to West Fargo. These are just a few of the amenities you can expect to happen at “The Lights” at Sheyenne 32 located on the corner of 32nd Avenue and Sheyenne Street in West Fargo. The Lights is an EPIC Companies project that is slated to include four mixed-use buildings, a 400+ stall parking garage, and an entertainment space for people to live, work and play.

“We are very excited to welcome The Lights at Sheyenne 32 as a destination location and a wonderful amenity to add to our city, which was recently named one of the top 50 cities in the entire United States. This development will be a major landmark on our newly renovated Sheyenne Street corridor and create a space for the community and region to not just ‘Live’ or ‘Work’ West Fargo, but ‘Play’ West Fargo, said West Fargo, Mayor Bernie Dardis.”

Construction began in the fall of 2018 in a two-phase process, with the second phase beginning in 2019. When finished, The Lights will feature four, five-to-six story mixed-use buildings surrounding a community entertainment area. The buildings will include retail, office, dining, and other commercial tenants on the bottom floors, with one and two-story apartments above. A parking ramp with 400 spaces will be complete in November 2019 and all of the buildings also house underground parking for residents.

The first building will have 49 residential units and be complete in January 2020, while the second building will have 36 two-story residential units and be complete in the fall of 2020. The other phases will follow upon completion of these two.

“The goal is to have The Lights at Sheyenne 32 host more than 100 events a year with ample opportunity for the community to use it,” said Todd Berning, president of EPIC Companies. “The biggest asset of the spot will be its versatility to host a variety of events, whether that be tailgating on a brisk fall day or a craft show in the spring and a 3,000 person concert in the summer. The options are endless!”

The Lights at Sheyenne 32 will host the groundbreaking ceremony/press conference on September 25th at 11:30 am. The ceremony will be hosted by the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. Guests include Mayor Bernie Dardis, Bell Bank EVP Patrick Chaffee, Amy Hass EPIC Companies Senior Vice President, Jim Bullis EagleRidge President, and a representative from the house and senate of North Dakota.

“We are truly excited for the creation of this entertainment district because of the return on investment it will be brought through the community events that will take place in our brand-new plaza, the jobs it will add for our community, and the taxable value it will create for the City, said Mayor Bernie Dardis.”

The Lights East building will be anchored by a 9,000 plus square foot bar & grill named Bar Down on the north side. The Lights South building will be home to Bell Bank which will include a drive-up banking option. EPIC Management will manage all of the commercial and residential spaces in the complex. West Fargo Events, a non-profit, will host all events that take place in the transformable plaza space.

The Lights at Sheyenne 32 evolved from the idea of mixed-use entertainment districts that you would find in Los Angeles, Rosemont, throughout Texas, Cleveland, and Kansas City’s Power and Light District. The entertainment space is designed to offer year-round programming and events, and décor that transforms with the seasons.
