Minot Daily News: EPIC Companies Seeks M Building Memorabilia

February 27, 2022

An historic photo shows Minot’s Big M building in its early days. EPIC Companies is seeking photos, information and other memorabilia on the building.

Plans to renovate the building taking shape

The new owner of the Midwest Federal Building in downtown Minot is seeking photos, information or memorabilia/artifacts of this historical building. EPIC Companies asks anyone who has or knows someone who has these historical items to send items to or contact McKenzy@EPICCompaniesND.com.

EPIC plans to incorporate historical photos/items into the lobby and common areas of the renovated building.

After being referred to as “The Big M and M Building” for almost 60 years, EPIC Companies has renamed the building “M by EPIC.” The name pays tribute to the building’s rich tradition while looking forward to a bright future.

According to EPIC Companies, M by EPIC will be transformed into a mixed-use building to provide business opportunities and accessible living. It will consist of underground parking, 24 apartments, eight condos, and more than 2,000 square feet of commercial space, depending on demand. The Big M on the building’s roof will be restored and placed back in its rightful place to remain a landmark for Minot. EPIC is committed to this $14 million renovation to spark extra life and community into downtown Minot.

The architect of record is Ackerman-Estvold, with the construction to be completed by Construction by EPIC. EPIC Management will be managing the commercial spaces and residential units. Construction is to start this spring and is estimated to take 1½ to two years to complete.
