tax break

Development containing The Wave passes first barrier for tax break

July 19, 2023

A multi-building complex that includes an indoor waterpark and hotel could get a 10-year property tax break worth more than $6.5 million provided the developer carries through with at least $180 million in construction on the site of the former Anderson Softball Complex.

On Tuesday, July 18, Fargo’s Economic Development Incentives Committee voted 5-0 at a special meeting to recommend a 10-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes incentive for the EPIC Companies project at 2500 45th St. S., just south of Interstate 94.

EPIC officials say the development will include The Wave waterpark, a 135-room resort hotel, 500-car parking ramp, a 4-acre public-use space and other buildings. The Makt 130-unit apartment building is to be completed there this fall.

The Fargo City Commission will weigh the committee’s recommendation at its Monday, July 24 meeting and make the final determination on whether to approve the tax break.
