City of West Fargo agrees to partner with EPIC Companies over The Lights expansion

July 11, 2023

EPIC Companies is one step closer to joining the city of West Fargo and West Fargo Public Schools in undertaking a massive expansion of The Lights, a residential and commercial multiplex owned by EPIC. The West Fargo City Commission approved entering into a partnership with EPIC behind a unanimous vote on Monday, July 10

Earlier this year, the city and school district jointly asked for development proposals at 520 32nd Ave. W., or the area southwest of The Lights and West Fargo Sports Arena, which is on land the school district currently owns.

City and school officials on June 26 were pitched the project by sole developer EPIC Companies, who along with CBE Construction, architects BKV Group and Lowry Engineering, presented a plan
highlighted by a $12 million parking ramp, a $20. 6 million hotel and $5.3 million hockey facility.

EPIC Founder and President Todd Berning said the proposed projects could help the area generate roughly $100 million in taxable value.

While the city can enter into development plans with a private party, the school district may not. The school district currently owns much of the land in question, which it would sell to EPIC for development.
